Water, Water, Water...

Today in Maunga Block, we measured with water.

How many cups will it take to fill a giant container?

We had to measure accurately which means carefully filling the containers to the top and counting to some very high numbers!

What's The Time Mr Wolf?

In Tahi Class we are learning to tell the time using o'clock and half past!

Look how clever we are!  We even made our very own clocks.

The Exploding Lunchbag!

Mrs McGregor's Lunchbag exploded today.  Just as we'll she was eating outside!  Have a look what happened...
We don't think her lunch was very tasty anyway.  Just some water, vinegar and baking soda...it's a bit of a worry what our teachers eat for lunch!!!

What happens when you shake and shake and shake cream and salt together?

Butter!!!!!  Lots of delicious butter. We even has a taste, yum!
Maybe you could try it at home?

Science fun - term 4 day 1

Here is our first experiment for the term. If you want to try it at home you will need : a bottle of diet coke, half a pack of mentors mints and a piece of card. Open the diet coke. Place the card on top of the bottle and rest the mints on top allowing them to fall to the top of the pack resting on the card. Remove the card and let the mints fall into the bottle. Run!

Wow. The coke fizzed and foamed it's way out of the bottle. The mentors mints then dissolved into the coke. It took the whole day for them to disappear. Watch this space for more fun experiments !

Treasure Island - What an Adventure!!!

Oooooo arrrrrr... today was the day... Quail Island here we come!
The bus ride to Lyttleton was super fun - especially the tunnel!

Is this our ferry?

Hmmm...maybe this one!

Ahoy sailors...boy is this ride bumpy!

We walked and we walked and we walked...

We looked at treasure maps and guess what we found... Buried treasure!!!!

One of our highlights...the giant hill to slide down...sorry parents about the washing:)

After all that walking and digging for treasure, it was time for a pirate feast!

Who are these tricky rascals and what yarns are they spinning?

Captain Hook from the Black Cat captured one of our crew!  Don't worry...we got her back!

What an adventure... it was a quiet trip home!

What an awesome day sailing to Treasure Island!  Many thanks to our wonderful Mums and Dads for coming along and joining in on the fun!!!

Writing Our Stories Week With Hermione

Hermione visited us to tell us pirate stories.  She didn't have pictures to go with her story - we had to use our imaginations and make the pictures in our heads!

We got to act out Hermione's story

Here we are putting on our coats...

We got to draw our own pictures for a pirate story that was still in our heads!

It took lots of thinking... what will happen next..?

Wow - now we're ready to tell our pirate stories...arrrr!

Ooooo - please can I share my story with the class?

Once upon a time..........arrrrrr!  Thanks Hermione!
